Two-thirds of Russians say they don't feel that Constitution Day, which is celebrated on December 12, is a real holiday; they see it only as an additional day off (64%). 21% of those surveyed consider the day to be a holiday. The Duma's decision to declare December 12 as a normal work day was approved of by 43% of respondents, while 36% disapprove of the move. At the same time, respondents were most likely to think that a holiday like Constitution Day is necessary for Russia in principle (48%), although 38% hold the opposite opinion. The Public Opinion Foundation. A Russia-wide poll of urban and rural residents was conducted in 200 households in 63 regions, territories, and republics, in all economic and geographic areas of Russia. Interviews are conducted at the homes of interviewees. Household interviews are drawn from a sample size of 1500 respondents. The margin of error does not exceed 3.6%. December 4, 2004.
