Russians were asked to name famous American figures that they know. Mainly, they gave the names of American presidents. Public figures and actors were mentioned less often. The top ten rating of the best-known Americans in Russia is led by Bill Clinton, and ends with Monica Lewinsky (data in % of those surveyed):

Marilyn Monroe, Madonna, Arnold Schwarzenneger, Mark Twain, Bill Gates, Jack London, Henry Ford, Madeleine Albright, Jimmy Carter, Richard Nixon, the Rockefellers, and Jean-Claude Van Damme were mentioned by less than 1% of respondents.

A total of 71% of respondents were able to name some famous Americans.
